Pikzy Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026
Pikzy is a sports social app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.
Pikzy is not for children under 13. You must be 13 or older to create an account, and we ask for your date of birth at sign-up to enforce that.
What we collect
Account information
- Email address — to create your account and sign you in.
- Username — shown publicly to other users.
- Date of birth — used once, to check you are 13 or older, and retained as a record that we performed that check. It is never displayed to anyone.
- Password — stored only as a salted hash by our authentication provider. We never see it.
Content you create
- Photos ("Piks") you take in the app, and any caption you add.
- Venue check-ins, including the name of the venue and whether you were within range of it.
- Comments and replies you post on game threads and on other people's Piks.
- Direct messages you send to other users. These are stored so a conversation is still there when you come back, and they are visible to you and the person you sent them to. They are not actively monitored — but we are the operator of the database they sit in, so we retain the technical ability to access them if we are required to, for example by a legal obligation or to investigate a report of abuse.
- Lineups and draft picks you make.
- Profile details — your bio and the teams or players you "rep".
- Your activity — Pik Points, badges, and matchup results.
Location
- When you check in at a venue, we read your device location once, at that moment, to confirm you are near the venue. We store the venue name and your distance from it, not your coordinates. We do not track your location in the background or when the app is closed.
Automatically collected
- Crash and error diagnostics via Sentry, so we can fix bugs. We have configured Sentry not to attach personal information to these reports.
- A push notification token, if you allow notifications. It identifies your device to Apple's notification service so we can reach it. It is not an advertising identifier and it is not linked to anything outside Pikzy. Turning notifications off in your device settings stops it being used.
- Basic technical data needed to serve the app, such as your authentication session.
We do not collect contacts, advertising identifiers, browsing history, or health data. We do not use advertising or tracking SDKs.
How photos are handled
Before a photo is uploaded anywhere, it is checked automatically by Google Cloud Vision. It is screened for adult, violent, and sexually suggestive content, and checked to confirm it shows sports. This happens before the image leaves your device for our storage — a photo that fails either check is never uploaded and is never visible to anyone else. The check is also conservative: if it cannot complete, the photo is rejected rather than allowed through.
Photos you post successfully are visible to other signed-in Pikzy users.
What other users can see
Other signed-in Pikzy users can see your username, your profile photo if you set one, the teams and players you rep, roughly when you joined, the Piks you post, and the comments and replies you write.
Your Pik Points total appears on the leaderboards, next to your username, to anyone signed in. Your badges and your win-loss record appear on your profile to other signed-in users. Your streak is shown only to you.
Your email address and date of birth are never shown to other users.
Why we collect it
- To provide the app: accounts, contests, lineups, friends, feeds.
- To keep it safe: age checks, photo screening, text screening, handling reports and blocks.
- To fix problems: crash diagnostics.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties except the service providers below, who process it on our behalf.
Who processes your data
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
- Google Cloud Vision — automated photo screening, for safety and to confirm a photo shows sports. Images are sent for analysis and are not used by us for any other purpose.
- Sentry — crash and error reporting, configured without personal data.
- Expo — delivery of push notifications. Your device's notification token and the text of the notification pass through Expo's service on the way to Apple. No other personal data is sent.
- Sports data providers — MLB Stats API, College Football Data, nflverse, and balldontlie. We read schedules, scores and player statistics from these. No personal data of yours is sent to any of them — the traffic only goes one way.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account at any time, in the app: Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, your photos and the stored image files behind them, captions, comments, direct messages, lineups, friendships, and check-ins. It cannot be undone.
- Block other users, in the app, from any of their Piks or comments. Settings → Blocked Accounts lets you see and undo your blocks.
- Report content you think breaks the rules, from any Pik, comment, reply, or profile.
- Access or correct your information — email us and we will help.
Retention
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your data is deleted. Crash diagnostics and moderation reports may be retained separately for a limited period so we can investigate abuse.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for anything significant, tell you in the app.
